Hello B2chi. Thanks for your good long message. No I don't work due to my Fibro\diabetes. Iv been signed off now for almost a year. Last September I had the worse flare iv ever had it lasted over two weeks. I was in so much pain I sent my partner and my best mate a message to say I wanted to end my life. I was helped throu this awful time by my partner and my bestmate. A visit to my GP for a med check found me telling her. I have since been seen by so may different medical professionals I can't keep up. Now I live in FEAR of a repeat pain episode. So I can't and won't be pushed to do to much.

HI Elizabeth and Mel, yes I am Type 2. Type 1 in Canada Is someone like you who were diagnosed as children. I was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic in my late 30,s but couldn't control my diabetes with the diet or meds, so was put on insulin. This made a big difference.

I have had major problems with my eyes since I was very ill for 5 years, had multiple surgeries and woke up from a coma with very little vision. While I was recovering I lost my vision totally, both my eyes had hemorrhaged. Had surgery and had vision for two months, lost most of my vision again and had eye injections for 3 years to fight a diabetic eye disease. Meanwhile I developed cataracts (diabetes and previous surgery caused them)and became very short sited. I'm waiting for cataract surgery on both eyes now and hopefully will have my full back once that has been done. I can't wait.

I am fairly mobile most of the time unless I have a flareup, sciatica or gout. I do find I'm not very balanced, walk quite stiffly and get tired really quickly but am trying to force myself to walk more. I am still trying to regain my srength although it's been over 4 years since I started recovering. I'm trying to workout 3-4 times a week, twice with a fitness trainer, and have decided I need to start walking more. I can't drive right now but fortunately, both my husband and I are retired, so I have no problem getting around.

I can usually manage the pain but find the exhaustion and fibro fog really hard to deal with. I did work with fibro for over 10 years, but definitely couldn't do it at this point, I'd keep falling asleep, or find my mind wandering off to "my own world" much too often. Are you two working?

Hi all,

B2chi You say ur a type 2 diabetic? Are you sure thats right? The reason Im asking is in the UK a type 1 is insulin diabetic and type 2 is either tablet controlled or diet controlled.

I have always had very erracic blood sugars no matter what is happening.

Its really strange but my HB1H is pretty good . My FM has had a big effect on my life in general. My mobility is very restricted due to a problem with my left hip so I cant walk very far so I use my car.

I also used to have tingling in my feet which my doctor said it was the diabetes but since starting the Amatriptaline it has stopped.Yes I understand what ur saying about what is causing what symtom. For me its not easy but coz iv had dianbtes for so long the new things that are starting then I blame my FM, as I have not had it so to long.

HI Elizabeth and Mel, I'm an insulin dependent type 2 diabetic, strangely enough as my fibro got worse my blood sugars, have improved, Since I am also trying to lose weight (not getting very far) and exercising more I've been able to drop my insulin some and A1C's are coming within normal range. Still have blips high/low blood sugars, needing to eat something now etc.

I do find that when I start a new med it really affects my blood sugars and I really have to watch as I have big blood sugar drops in the middle of the night.

I was also having a lot of pain, tingling, in my feet until I started to exercise, now it appears that my blood circulation has improved, because they only hurt if I strain them, or get gout.

Part of my issues in having both is what's causing what .. Is the fatigue a result of one or both, sweating at night is it my blood sugar or fibro, is all the pain related to fibro or is the diabetes causing part of it, same with headaches.

My sugars are really not that good atm due to the pain. Its hard to juggle the both conditions and almost impossible to get them both right at ther same time.
